Charming Paso Robles

I am in love with this cute little town in San Louis Obispo County, California. Paso Robles is charming, well located (exactly half way between the cities of Los Angeles and San Francisco) and is known for it's hot springs, wineries, olive oil and so much more.

Downtown Paso Robles is a throwback to a simpler era, without a single parking meter. It has inspiring art galleries, quaint tasting rooms, fabulous dining options and charming boutiques surrounding its central park.

There are fine choices for every oenophile, with more than 400 wineries producing cool-climate grapes.

As most of you know, I love my wine and am in a constant pursuit to find new wine regions and great wineries that is how I first discovered Paso Robles about 10 years ago.

These are some of my favorite wineries. Some are casual and others are fancier but all are a must try!!!

  • L'Aventure - One of my absolute favorites. Love the winery, the experience and the wine! Their Rose is my absolute favorite.

  • Booker Vineyards - Westside producer of Rhone blends and varietals. The Ripper which a 100% Grenache is a must try.

  • Clos Solene - Beautiful, elegant red wines. The winemaker, Guillaume, was assistant winemaker at L’Aventure.

  • Justin Vineyards - Big Bordeaux-style red wines. Beautiful winery. A must visit.

  • Le Cuvier - Small production winery with an amazing hilltop location and a wonderful food/wine pairing that is unique and affordable

  • Opolo Vinyards - This laid-back winery has a nice casual vibe and an incredible selection of wines

  • Whalebone Winery - Family run winery with a quaint setting. In addition to their delicious reds, they sell the best flavored olive oils. I'm in love

Though it may be far away from any major cosmopolitan area, Paso Robles has a surprising number of delicious restaurants and local eateries nestled amongst the farmland and vineyards in Central California. While tasty food is a draw, of course, restaurants here also take sourcing locally seriously, so you can feel good knowing that most of what you’re eating is fresh and in-season. Here are our picks for the best places to dine in Paso Robles, whether you’re in the mood for simple Italian, comforting California fare, Mexican-style eats, or otherwise.

  • Il Cortile - Upscale Italian restaurant with a traditional menu full of antipasti, meats, and pastas.

  • Fish Gaucho - Modern Mexican Restaurant with over 80 different types of tequila and Mezcal. The Fish Tacos are amazing!

  • Thomas Hill Organics - F

arm-to-table dining with a focus on all things local, whether it's organically grown lettuce from Paso Robles farms, locally-made bread, or grass-fed lamb. The dining area is refined but keeps an aura of California-casual.

  • Hatch - Modern Southern food. Love the bar scene and especially the Whiskey cocktails. The rotisserie chicken is my fave !

  • Twisted & Glazed Doughnuts - OMG!!! (pictured here!)
