Teen Boys Hangout Room

My latest design project was to transform a family basement into a teen boys hangout area.

The goal was to create different areas within the large space where they can do homework, play games, watch movies and chill with friends.

I started off by creating a mood board for the client. We settled on boy neutral colors: grey, blue, black, cream with a pop pf color coming from their favorite sports teams.

Once we agreed on a vision for the room, we picked the paint color - Benjamin Moore Silver Streak and selected a new carpet for installation. Even just with new paint and carpet, the space came to life!

Then we started looking for comfortable and easy to clean furniture that allowed for lounging! We created an area for TV watching and video games versus an area to play board games and do homework.

Next we added some shelving from Room & Board to anchor the screen that drops down from the ceiling. The shelving provides storage for board games and display some fun personal memorabilia.

And last but not least, we brought the space to life with some fun wall decor and accessories to highlight their favorite sport.

And voila a fully functional space, designated by areas for the boys to enjoy for years to come!
