Santa Fe did exactly that.
I found a city where art spills into the streets, restaurants double as galleries, handcrafted pottery is everywhere, and slowing down feels completely natural.
As someone who loves art, design, collecting, and creating beautiful experiences, Santa Fe felt like a place I was always meant to visit.
If you’re planning a Santa Fe weekend getaway, a girls’ trip, or simply want a memorable 48 hours in one of the Southwest’s most enchanting cities, here’s my curated guide.

Santa Fe is one of those rare places where art isn’t confined to museums—it’s woven into everyday life.

From traditional Pueblo pottery to contemporary ceramics, the craftsmanship is extraordinary. Whether you’re a collector or simply appreciate beautiful objects, Santa Fe is endlessly inspiring.
Where to Stay in Santa Fe

A luxurious retreat just outside town with beautiful mountain views, a serene pool, and spa. We spent an afternoon here and loved every minute.

We chose an Airbnb, which was perfect for our group. Having shared space for morning coffee and time together between outings made the weekend feel even more special.
The Perfect 48 Hours in Santa Fe
Day One
Cafe Pasquals
We kicked things off with lunch at Café Pasqual’s, a Santa Fe institution known for colorful interiors and delicious Southwestern flavors. The Egg Salad bruschetta is a must-try!
From there, we explored the historic Plaza, the Palace of the Governors, local shops, and the Native American artisan market.
Then it was on to Canyon Road, one of the highlights of the trip. Even if you’re not buying art, wandering through its galleries, sculpture gardens, and adobe courtyards is one of the best things to do in Santa Fe.
Before dinner, we did the Spirits of Mexico tasting at Sazón, which was both fun and surprisingly educational.

Day Two
Salsas and Sauces of New Mexico
Bishop’s Lodge
One of our favorite experiences was a hands-on class at the Santa Fe School of Cooking called Those Great Sauces & Salsas of New Mexico.
We prepared a selection of New Mexican favorites, including fresh salsas, chile sauces, enchiladas, eggplant adovada, and even a red chile caramel sauce.
Afterward, we slowed things down with a relaxing afternoon by the pool at Bishop’s Lodge.
Later, we shopped around the Plaza and Canyon Road, where you’ll find artisan jewelry, textiles, home décor, leather goods, and some of the most beautiful pottery I’ve seen anywhere.
We wrapped up the weekend with our favorite meal at Geronimo on Canyon Road—elegant, intimate, and the perfect place to celebrate friendship and a memorable weekend.

Uber and Lyft were easy, plentiful, and inexpensive, so we rarely needed a car.
Once downtown, Santa Fe is very walkable.
Book Sazón and Geronimo in advance.
Give yourself plenty of time for Canyon Road.
Santa Fe sits at more than 7,000 feet, so hydrate and take it easy when you first arrive.
What I Brought Home
When I think back on Santa Fe, I won't remember it for a particular meal, hotel, or gallery—although each was exceptional. I'll remember how the city made me feel.
Inspired by creativity. Grounded by its rich traditions. Reminded to slow down and appreciate craftsmanship, beautiful surroundings, and meaningful conversation.
Most of all, I came home grateful for uninterrupted time with dear friends. In a world that moves so quickly, sharing laughter, wonderful meals, and celebrating a milestone together felt like the greatest luxury of all.
The best souvenirs aren't always the ones we pack. Sometimes they're the memories, the inspiration, and the gentle reminders of how we want to live.
